Car Warranty Plans in Lancashire

Lancashire is one of the UK's most diverse driving counties. From the bustling streets of Preston and the coastal roads of Blackpool and Morecambe to the Pennine climbs around Burnley and Blackburn, the county's cars face every kind of driving condition. Whether you commute on the M6, navigate the Fylde coast or climb the moors towards Yorkshire, an extended warranty is one of the most practical ways to protect against sudden repair bills.

Why locally

Why Lancashire drivers choose extended warranties

Lancashire drivers buy a lot of used cars. Between the long-running forecourts in Preston and Blackburn, the private-sale market across the PR, LA, FY and BB postcodes, and the thriving trade in coastal towns like Blackpool and Lytham St Annes, more than half the county's vehicles were bought second-hand. Those cars also work hard — Lancashire has some of the UK's most varied driving terrain, from motorway commuting to coastal humidity and steep Pennine climbs. An extended warranty caps the risk of any major failure becoming a financial problem.

Common repair costs

Modern car bills are not cheap

Modern car repairs are not cheap. A replacement turbocharger on a common 2.0-litre diesel typically costs £1,200–£1,800 with parts and labour. A new dual-mass flywheel and clutch kit can be £900–£1,400. An alternator alone often comes in around £450–£700. Even an apparently small electrical fault — a failed ABS sensor or a stuck EGR valve — can run into hundreds of pounds. Without warranty cover, a single repair can wipe out a year's worth of careful budgeting. With the Essential plan, you have £1,000 of cover per claim and the freedom to use any UK VAT-registered garage to do the work.

Benefits

Benefits of a vehicle protection plan

A good extended warranty isn't about hoping you'll get unlucky — it's about removing the uncertainty from a known wear curve. As cars age, the probability of a major mechanical or electrical failure rises sharply, particularly between 60,000 and 120,000 miles. The Essential plan exists in exactly that window. The benefits Lancashire drivers care most about are clear pricing (£175 for 6 months, £299 for 12 months), no excess, an honest claims line, and the freedom to choose your own garage. There is no upselling on tiers, no separate claim caps per component group, and no main-dealer-only restrictions.

Coverage

Coverage options

The Essential plan covers all major mechanical and electrical components on the vehicle, including the engine internals, gearbox internals (manual and automatic), turbocharger, fuel-injection components, cooling system, electrical systems, suspension components, steering, braking system components, drivetrain, ABS, airbag systems and many of the auxiliary systems. Each claim is capped at £1,000 (parts and labour combined), and you can make as many claims as you need within the term — up to the total value of your vehicle at the point you took out cover.

High mileage vehicle warranties

High-mileage cars are some of the most important to cover. A well-maintained car with 90,000 miles is often more reliable than a poorly-kept 40,000-mile example, but the parts on it are closer to the end of their service life. The Essential plan accepts vehicles up to 150,000 miles at the point of starting cover. There is no mileage cap during the policy — once you're insured, you can drive normally without worrying about hitting a ceiling.

Used car warranties

Used-car cover is the core of what we do. The plan was designed for buyers from any source — private sale, trader or main dealer — and there is no requirement to have a full dealer service history. You do need to be the registered keeper of the vehicle, and the car must meet the basic eligibility (up to 15 years old, under 150,000 miles, value at least £1,000). Cover starts on the date you choose when applying.

Electric & hybrid warranties

Battery-electric and hybrid vehicles are eligible. Cover includes major drivetrain components, electric drive motors, inverters, on-board chargers and most of the high-voltage system control electronics. Traction batteries themselves are excluded — these almost always carry separate, longer warranties from the manufacturer. Hybrids benefit from cover on both the petrol-engine side and the hybrid-system electronics, which is genuinely useful as these systems age into their second decade.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

What's the difference between Essential 6 and Essential 12?
Only the term and the price. Both plans share the same £1,000 per-claim limit, the same covered-parts list, the same labour rate and the same claims process.
Do I need to be in Lancashire to buy this warranty?
No — the plan is available across the UK. This page is a local guide for Lancashire drivers, but the same product is sold in every UK postcode.
Can I use any garage?
Yes, as long as it is VAT-registered in the UK. That includes most main dealers, brand specialists and independent garages across the county.
What's the labour rate paid by the warranty?
Up to £75 + VAT per hour. That matches the standard rate for most independent garages across Lancashire.
Is there a waiting period?
Cover starts on the date you choose during application. Pre-existing faults (those present before cover started) are not eligible.
How do I make a claim?
Call our claims team on 01279 456 500 before any repair work begins. We agree the work with the garage, the garage carries it out, and we settle the invoice directly once it's completed.
Can I cancel?
Yes — there's a 14-day cooling-off period from the start date. After that, cancellation is at our discretion and may attract an administration fee.
